Office Lockers Designed for How You Work Today

An office locker is secured, personal storage — for a bag, a coat, a laptop — that belongs on your floor plan, not hidden in a back room. Modern Office Systems specifies and installs day-use and assigned locker programs for NYC's leading firms, in finishes that match your interior.

Personal Storage That Belongs on Your Floor

An office locker gives each employee a secure, lockable space for their daily carry — bag, coat, laptop, personal items. In a hybrid workplace where desks are unassigned, a locker is often the only space that belongs to a specific person.

Modern office lockers are not the metal box from the school gym. They come in white laminate, woodgrain, charcoal, and hundreds of custom finishes. They're wall-mounted, freestanding, or integrated into millwork. They have PIN pads, RFID readers, or push-button locks. They look like furniture.

Modern Office Systems has been specifying and installing office locker programs for NYC workplaces for over 40 years — from law firms and financial services to healthcare systems and creative agencies.

Day-Use or Assigned — We Design Both

The right locker program depends on how your people actually work. Most hybrid offices today use day-use programs. Fully staffed floors often prefer assigned lockers.

01

Day-Use Locker Programs

Employees check in to an available locker each morning and check out at end of day. The locker releases and is available for the next user. Ideal for hybrid offices with 50–70% daily occupancy. Requires fewer lockers than headcount — typically a 0.7:1 ratio. Electronic keypad or RFID locks are standard for day-use programs.

02

Assigned Locker Programs

Each employee is assigned a dedicated locker — their space, their code, their lock. Preferred by firms where employees come in every day, or where employees have gear they need to store overnight. One locker per person. Keyed, push-button, or electronic locks all work for assigned programs.

03

Hybrid Mixed Programs

Some floors combine day-use lockers near workstations with assigned lockers near private offices or team neighborhoods. Mixed programs let you serve different work styles on the same floor without over-provisioning. We help you map the ratio to your actual occupancy data during the planning process.

04

Department or Team Lockers

Lockers grouped by team or department, accessible to team members with a shared code or badge access. Common in creative agencies, media companies, and healthcare settings where teams have shared equipment. Configured as wall banks, end-caps, or island clusters depending on floor layout.

Office Locker Questions, Answered

What is an office locker?

An office locker is a secure, lockable storage unit for employees to store personal items — bags, coats, laptops — during the workday. In hybrid offices, lockers are typically day-use (checked in and out each day). In fully staffed offices, they may be permanently assigned.

What lock types are available?

The most common options are electronic keypad locks (PIN code), RFID/smart card locks (tap-to-open with an employee badge), push-button combination locks (battery-free), and keyed cylinder locks. For day-use programs, electronic locks that release automatically at end of day are the most popular choice.

How many lockers do we need?

For hybrid workplaces, plan for one locker per 1.2–1.5 employees, assuming 60–70% daily occupancy. For fully assigned programs, one locker per employee. We can help you calculate your locker count based on your headcount and hybrid ratio during a free site consultation.

What sizes are available?

The most common configurations are 3-tier (for standard bag + laptop storage), 4-tier and 5-tier (for day-use dense programs), and 2-tier (for garment storage). Standard module width is 12–15 inches; depth is 15–18 inches. Custom dimensions are available.

What finishes can we choose?

Over 200 laminate options — white, gray, charcoal, natural oak, maple, walnut, and dark espresso woodgrains, solid colors, and textured surfaces including reeded and fluted options. Edge banding matched to the face. Physical samples brought to your site visit.

How long does installation take?

Standard office locker programs have an 8–10 week lead time from order to installation. Most installations are completed in one to two days. Modern Office Systems handles delivery, installation, and debris removal — you arrive to a finished locker program.
